The Screening Deception:
Genesis told us we needed to fund our escrow account to pay for “medical screening.” They then charged us $2,000 for what they called “screening” (which turned out to be just matching us with a candidate, separate from their agency fees). Months later, the IVF clinic is now asking us to pay for the actual medical screening. The word “screening” was used ambiguously, leading us to believe we were paying for medical screening, when it was actually just a matching fee.
Matching with Disqualified Candidate:
Our only requirement was a Vegas-based gestational carrier. Genesis matched us with someone who required expensive travel (flights, hotels, dining, Ubers, and even airport parking for her car back home). More seriously, our clinic informed us this candidate had already been screened previously and required serious surgery before she could carry a child. She was not medically cleared, yet Genesis used our escrow funds for her travel and presented her as “qualified.”
When I emailed Valerie (July 30 and August 4) requesting a new GC, she ignored my messages. Later, she claimed the GC “was never screened” – contradicting what the IVF clinic had told us.
Unauthorized Spending:
They spent our escrow funds on premium travel for a disqualified candidate without our approval. When we questioned these expenses, they abruptly terminated our contract rather than address our legitimate concerns.
The Bait-and-Switch:
Before we signed, they promised our total costs would be “$110,000 to $125,000 for a typical journey.” After signing, they refused any responsibility for budget and said they wouldn’t honor anything said by phone or email – only the contract language.
Our Experience:
Genesis Rising lacks transparency, accountability, and responsiveness. They operate with a New York license while primarily serving Las Vegas clients. Their pattern of unclear billing practices, not meeting our stated requirements, and terminating our contract when we asked questions was extremely disappointing.
Please save yourself the unnecessary emotional and financial stress.
AVOID Genesis Rising Surrogacy Center.

I started my journey with Genesisrising at the beginning and 2019. I still remember the first concall with my agency representative, Jamie, the case manager and our Surrogate in Portland Anneel. Everyone was kinda nervous, but everyone was easygoing and kind, the first meeting went very well.
The surrogacy journey may be long, complicated and sometimes full of ups and downs. But one thing is for sure, if you meet the right person, there is nothing that can not be conquered. During the 1.5 year’s journey, I always kept frequent contact with Anneel and Jamie for updates. Thank you for their help and now I am a father. I hope that we will be long term friends in the future and I will also share the story with my kid.

I am a first time surrogate who started my journey with Genesis Rising January 2019. My coordinator Jamie was always reachable by phone My last two months of pregnancy was during this COVID epidemic and Jamie was there to check in and make sure I was okay and if I needed anything. The relationship with my IPs was amazing and we were truly a great match. I thank Genesis Rising for making my first journey effortless and such a great experience. On my day of delivery Jamie kept in touch with me and made sure I was feeling healthy and rested ( the baby was a big one) I highly recommend Genesis Rising and would gladly do another journey after my recovery.
For financial aspects bills were always paid on time. I was always reimbursed for anything out of pocket.

July 2, 2020 at 11:01 amI completely my journey two months ago and I honestly believe it was the coolest experience ever. I got so lucky that Jamie Mallah, my case manager, found me and suggested i give it a try. I never knew what even went into the process of being a surrogate, but she had answers to any questions that I had. I felt very comfortable with her and never once felt any uneasiness of anything that was asked of me. She was there with me throughout the process and always reassured me that I was in good hands. I love the how attentive and caring this agency is, it’s like your amongst friends and they all want, not only the IPs to have a great outcome, but they want their surrogates to have the best and smoothest experience. If any complications arise they are there 100% to help. I will never forget this experience and I will never forget the connections I made with all the wonderful people who work together to make such beautiful dreams come true.
