NOMOS Law Firm was established in 1995 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Our team comprises of seven experienced lawyers. Our Fertily Law Group comprises of two lawyers with wide experience in the field and was established three years ago. The Group speaks fluently English, German, French and Spanish. These last years we have assisted couples from all over the world to become parents via ART.

Greece is one of the few jurisdictions which enforces surrogacy contracts and has adopted a progressive and tolerant legal framework on the regulation of surrogate motherhood. Specifically, Greece has introduced a complete and comprehensive regulatory framework for medically assisted human reproduction, with provisions for altruistic gestational surrogacy since 2002. Greece's legal framework has been described as one of the most progressive regimes in the modern legal world. The Greek legal framework together with our expertise guarantees a smooth and frictionless ART process.

Professor C.G. Hadjiyannakis is the founder of our firm. However, the driving force behind our Fertility Law Group is Maria Vastaroucha. Maria is Head of the Fertility Team at NOMOS. Maria holds an M.Sc in Medical Law and Bioethics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Medicine, School of Law and Faculty of Theology. Maria is a qualified lawyer since 2000 and has pioneered the practice of fertility and surrogacy law in Greece. Maria has a global fertility law practice and her expertise covers international surrogacy and fertility treatment law. Maria is also an expert negotiator. In her capacity as an accredited Negotiator she has accumulated extensive experience in handling complex and highly sensitive fertility and parenting law cases. Maria is an author in magazines and legal journals and participated as a speaker on surrogacy and fertility law in Greece in several International Conferences. Maria is personally invested and passionate about assisting others going through the various ART processes. Maria has a wide network of surrogacy providers all over Greece and she speaks fluently English, Spanish and German.
