I wanted to give a review on my experience with New Gen Families as my agency. I started the process of becoming a surrogate in December of 2022. I had a consultation with Donnye in which we just got to know each other, and she broke down the process and let me know what I could expect in the coming months. She was kind and patient, answering the numerous questions I had. She made me feel like they truly cared about me and my well-being. The next couple of months I had several doctors visits and blood draws to check for my overall health and eligibility to be a surrogate, as well as the same blood draws on my wife to check for infectious diseases. Those all went well and we moved on to the psych evaluation to make sure I was mentally fit for this journey. The person they had do mine and my wife’s psych evaluation was great, he helped us to feel relaxed during the conversation and calmed our nerves by giving us the reassurance that there was no pressure, he was just there to have a conversation with us about our feelings about the surrogacy and our mental health history. In late February of 2023, I was asked to create a short “bio” about me and my family and send them some pictures of myself and my family so they could create a profile to send to potential IPs. Two days after our profile was sent out we were sent a profile for our potential IPs. I remember when my phone notified me that I had an email from New Gen while my wife and I were in the parking lot of our gym and we sat in the car gushing for nearly 30 minutes before going in because it finally started to sink in that this was happening! It was another same-sex couple that had a lot of the same interests as my wife and I. We were over the moon excited to meet them and immediately told them we wanted to do a match call. We found out the next morning that they were also interested in meeting us. We scheduled a zoom meeting for a couple of days later with my coordinator and with the IP coordinator. Our thirty-minute meeting ended up lasting over an hour! We knew that they were a perfect match for us to do our journey with! After that, our coordinator Janelle went to work to start the process. I flew out to my IPs’ IVF clinic to do my medical screening in the beginning of April. Janelle planned out the trip for me by booking flights and making the hotel reservations. She also made sure that my allowances for meals/ Uber for the trip was paid to me beforehand. After I got medical clearance, Janelle helped me find an attorney to work with to get the contract drawn up. She found a great attorney that helped the legal process go quickly and explained everything to us in great detail every step of the way. Then came the part I was most nervous about, the IVF medication. Janelle helped coordinate the shipments of the medications as well as making sure that they billed the correct place for everything. She was such a blessing throughout this time because she helped me with getting all the ultrasounds scheduled in the timing we needed them done in order to get accurate lining measurements before the transfer. Which is an understatement really because there were LOTS of appointments and lots of going back and forth with the schedulers at the hospital. When it came time for the embryo transfer, Janelle coordinated that trip for both my wife and I. She booked the hotel, the flights, and made sure our funds were distributed on time. Once we got to the point of confirmed heartbeat with surrobaby, Janelle stayed a constant support to me and my IPs during pregnancy. Halfway through my journey, I got to meet the CEO, Damien Chambers to do an interview with him on our experience with surrogacy up until that point. He was so easy to talk to and truly made us feel like a part of the New Gen Family. It was evident that he pours his heart and soul into his work and that each and every person that works with their company is cared for. Damien stayed in contact and checked in on me and my wife throughout the rest of our surrogacy journey as well. Every life change, job change, insurance change, etc. that I threw their way, they always had a solution. Surrobaby girl was born on April 2nd, 2024 and her moms are in love with her already! I could not recommend New Gen and my coordinator, Janelle enough. They are people who are passionate about surrogacy and will never treat you like a “number.”
